How to Copy Settings (CLI) Cleanflight

Most multirotors and race quads require you to do some programming, so today Josh and Josh will show you how to do a CLI Restore and Backup for Naze32 flight controllers.

Start by downloading the Cleanflight app from the Google Store.

Use a USB to connect your multirotor to your laptop. Keep in mind, Cleanflight only works with the Naze32.

Launch the Cleanflight app, and click Connect in the top right corner of the screen. The 3D rendering of the quad on the screen should move according to how you’re moving it in your hands.

At the bottom of the left sidebar, click CLI (Command Line Interface). Type "dump" into the code box at the bottom and press enter. This dumps the information from the Naze32 into Cleanflight.

Select all of the code in the box starting just below the word “dump,” copy it and save it as a .txt file using your Text Editor.

Go back into Cleanflight, type the word exit and press enter. Oscar Liang has a lot of great tutorials for using Cleanflight if you’re interested in learning more about tuning and quad settings.

If you accidentally restore defaults, having your CLI backed up in a separate location can help you get your Naze32 back to the settings you want.

To restore from a backup, find your .txt file and copy all. Paste the code under the CLI tab in Cleanflight, scroll all the way to the bottom, type "save" and press enter. Then type "exit" and press enter again.

When you tune or retune a quad, it’s helpful to have your dialed-in settings backed up and marked with dates so you can return to old settings if needed.

If you're interested in other pilots' setups, we’re working on a page that features just that! In the future we’ll be working with Skitzo, Freybott, Daughtry and other FPV pilots to add their setups. Check it out at www.flitetest.com/setups!

Sharing is a great way to learn, so share your setups with friends and with us in the comments below!

You might want to check your article. Cleanflight's main page has a list of "Hardware" platforms it supports. Naze32 is probably the most popular, but it's just one of them. IIUC, it still supports that list. Look at the "Firmware Flasher" page for a list of supported firmware binaries.
