Depron F-35 flight and tree collision

My friend and I built a F35 out of depron each. It was a really good fun project. The build wasn't too hard, it came together quite quickly actually.

This was my first project that I made working rudders and I'm glad i did! I really love to use the rudders when it's windy. Most of the time its just bank and yank but when you're stuck in one direction from the wind all it takes is one yank on the rudders and it flies where you want it to go.

I've had it quite high and found it glides very well. This one time I saw a flock of seagulls circling in a column and I knew what they were doing so I went to join them. Unfortunately I didn't have a GoPro on board when this happened but it had to have been the coolest experience flying an RC plane ever. I was circling this thermal wing to wing with the seagulls. They didn't seem to mind at all! After a few minutes I came back to the field I was flying in and two seagulls followed in formation. Coolest ever!

The spec on these planes are:

2200kv motor running a 6x4 prop

2200mah 20c battery (Gens eco)

30amp ESC

6ch radio

Interestingly I'd just upgraded from 1500mah batteries to the 2200mah and wow what a difference! This plane can fly on 1500mah but it feels sluggish. When you chuck in a 2200mah it suddeny becomes a jet and flies very fast.

I'm quite new to the hobby and my next project idea is a dedicated FPV/UAV platform with video transmitters which I'm conidering basing on the A-10 airframe.

Let me know what you think of the video! :)

what motor did you use? or what are the more detailed specs than the KV rating? ( like power, current draw, ect) , and also what glue did you use to put the plane together? because I want to build it out of hot glue, but many people say it's too heavy
Thanks

the motor is an RCtimer 2212-6 2200KV Outrunner Brushless Motor. Max Power: 342W, 28A. Running it through a 30amp ESC on a 2200mah 20c Gens Eco.

I glued the plane together with 5 minute epoxy. I used hot glue on the motor mount because then I can rip that off and re-use later once I finally total this plane. I have used hot glue on depron before but you have to be really careful. If the glue is too hot it will melt the depron. So when I need to use it i tend to use the hot glue right as its liquid enough to squeeze out of the gun. 10 minutes later it will be hot enough to melt the foam.

That's Awesome! Nice job. I felt really bad when you got to the tree. :( That happened to me before, and by the time it was out of the tree from the footballs we threw at it, it was toast.

Cheers :D it was my friends plane that crashed to the tree in that video, my plane(the one with the teeth on the front and the green bands) i flew that into a similar tree the week before and it was lodged twice the height! Wind blew it into it. Luckily I had full use of propeller and control surfaces. After half hour of wiggling the elevators and ailerons it fell and I caught it in one piece.

The thing I love about foamies is that no matter what you do to it, 90% of crashes can be fixed with duct tape and tooth picks! So much fun!
