i have just added a battery hatch to my ft pod for the bloody wonder

1 cut out a hatch just bigger than the batt that your using

2 hot glue a piece of plywood at the front of the hole you just cut in the pod

3 extreame tape the hatch all over as it will be used a lot

4 get old spare servo horn and a longish screw and washer and nut mark where the servo horn will lock the hatch and the cut the foambord to take the horn.(just at the front of the hatch opening)

5 screw the servo horn through the foam board and through the plywood an attach the nut

6 put a piece of tape as a hinge to join hatch to the pod

7 add a small piece of tape to the hatch so that you can open the hatch as it a tight fit

job done

add velcro if you wish to hold the battery

great idea mate. I wonder if it'd be better if the hatch opened from the back? I doubt it'd have much of a difference but this way the leading edge of the hatch would be taped rather than maybe having a slight ridge. Hmm. Just food for thought.

Agreed, be bad to have the screw get ripped out on a bad landing and you cant close the hatch anymore.

I make the hatch a bit shorter than the battery and slide it in to give it more support

i must agree that changing the battery in these swappable's is a pain in the ass if you keep your servo leads short its hard to access the battery and if you make them long it's hard to get them to tuck into the pod when you fit it back in, so i'm all for the hatch! what do you do to stop the battery sliding, velcro?

Nice idea! And a great use for all the spare servo arms in the parts box.

Great idea. I will be using the pod "door" on future builds. Thanks
