The Faster Arrow Project:

So, I have been playing with the FT-Arrow for a while now, and love it.  I have been having a blast, flying LOS and FPV with it.  From racing, to fast flying, and even FPV combat, this plane is awesome.

I started out with the standard 3S setup that FT recommended, and it was fun at first.

Then, at CFL FPV, there was a wing race.  I qualified, but noticed that the other wings were way faster than mine.

Had to change that.

So, I went to all of the vendors at the event buying up motors that could possibly make it go faster.

I ended up choosing the Emax 2205 2600kv motor.

It didn't seem that fast with the standard 6" prop I was flying, so I decided to step down to a 5".

I tried, twin, tri, and quad blade 5040 HQ props, and they all were fast, but the quad blade sounded the coolest.

So, I threw it back up in the air, and was as fast, if not faster than the other planes at the event, now.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to win, because my fpv gear fried on launch.  But, the plane was a definite eye turner at that event.

Well, last week, my Arrow got beat again in a speed race against a much bigger, more powerful wing built by a friend of mine.

WE CAN'T HAVE THAT......

So, I decided to build a twin engine FT-Arrow

Set up:

Emax 2205 2600KV Motors

UBAD 30A Angry Beast ESCs

UBAD 1800 mah 75c 4S Battery

Lemon 7ch Stabilizer Rx

Spektrum Dx9 Tx

It had a stabilizing rx, which didn't seem to work that well...

It also had differential thrust, and once I played with it some more, turned out to be somewhat useful.

Here is the Maiden, and I will link the free plans below.  Let me know what you think......

I love my Mini Arrow. I fly it with a Lumenier 2204 2500kv motor with an HQ5045BN prop. It screams!

Great article!

Crazy thing by the way

Hey you can add differential trust like the FT Sea Duck. It can make faster turns for race.

And is a great article just search for more lightweight and maybe make it VTOL (vertical take off and landing) @flyingcoqui

Thanks for the comment, friend, this plane does have diff thrust. Watch the video. :)
I mentioned it while flying. It didn't have much effect, unfortunately.

Motors are much to close for differential thrust. And there really isn't much of a vertical surface to pivot around either.
That is why F3A planes have such a thin but tall fuse, as it greatly enhances the rudders performance.

You could perhaps try a massive "shark fin" along the center line, but i still doubt it would do much with motors that close.
