FPV BAN?

by richardellis | August 25, 2013 | (5) Posted in Challenges

Hello everyone,

After coming across a video from Bruce on RCMODELREVIEWS channel on youtube, I felt it neccessary to start a website for the FPV community incase we need to fight for our hobby. The site will have a reference list of anyone who wants to be a supporter for petitioning any upcoming laws that may destroy the FPV side of our growing hobby.

As you all know there is an up rise in drone ban promotions going on currently in the U.S. Hopefully these new laws will only effect the weaponized drones the government uses overseas on foreign terrorists. If these new laws apply to the pure hobbyist who specializes in FPV flying then we must protect ourselves and start a reference list community to show the big brother just how "BIG!" we are as a community.

checkout the site and join the community.

In your site, when you hover with your mouse over the 'home', 'about' and so on, they disappear. How come???

It disappears because that's just the way the default settings were. I can always change it but I didn't think it should matter too much.

This is just like the never ending, ridiculous, feel good, do nothing firearms laws that California keeps jamming down law abiding citizens throats. This new move to regulate what people can and cant do in regards to a flying model makes me sick. The fact that TX is on that map too makes my head hurt. We need to stop electing people into office that do not have a vested interest in the ability of the American people to be able to seek life, liberty and the pursuit happiness. I need to move to a free state.

Yup, that's politics. I hate it as much as anyone else does. Electing officials still won't make a difference, in my opinion. I believe everyone that runs for elections are just puppets for the most part. Our last real President our country had was JFK, that's why he was killed after his speech he gave stating he would not hide secrets from the public anymore.

I hear ya man. It's a broken machine in dire need of a reset. Problem is the masses are too apathetic or ignorant (stupid rather) to do anything or care about whats happening short of who's winning American idol. I write letters, I make phone calls, I'm sure the majority of it falls on deaf ears. Especially with the "government" that California has, all they care about is pandering to unions and illegals and anything deemed "green". I can't tell you how much I detest that moniker. It's funny, I try to take a break, or rather just shut out any news about new firearm legislation, bans etc etc and devote myself fully back to the RC hobby. And what do you know? The mother f'ers just cant keep away from anything I enjoy.

I fully support any efforts to safeguard our hobby from misguided efforts to limit our access to wholesome activities. There is a lot of misinformation going around out there how "drones" are becoming a growing threat to our privacy and security in the USA. Where does this come from? The media have done quite a job of stirring up the public. The news business is first and foremost a business. To sell their wares they have sensationalized foreign drone missile attacks that have killed militants. They further have instilled the notion that technology is coming to a neighborhood near you soon. Then there are the understandable concerns due to recent whistle blower revelations making the news of how domestic spying is out of control. Add to that the media stories of the quadcopters and FPV aircraft being flown by Black Sheep and others in our neighborhoods and sensitive areas like the Statue of Liberty, and you have the perfect storm of factors to create public hysteria about the "coming of the drones." There are numerous public interest groups and politicians who are leading the charge in efforts to "protect" the public from the drone buzzing your bedroom window or killing you with a missile.
We must organize in order to counter these efforts in order to protect our hobby and allow the airspace to be used for legitimate commercial, scientific and monitoring purposes. The first order of business would be to educate the public of what we're really about and how the general good can be served by sensible use of the airspace by un-manned vehicles.

The one thing that dose not help us is the few that do not fly safely and someone gets hurt because of that. I just hope that the faa dose not get that passed. We do need to do what ever we can to keep being able to have the fun that we are in this for.
