The Monster

The Monster Jet

The Monster Jet.  The name says it all. This is a great Monster Jet of a motor and should only be used by the experienced hobbist.  This is a bit larger motor when compared to other park jet motors and in fact, lets call this a field jet motor.  No park can handle this one :)  To put this into terms most will understand, a 2-3 pound plane will go nearly 125mph when using this motor.  If you do want to see this in action, just click here YouTube video.

Size does matter.  The bigger the motor, the more powerful it typically is.  The Monster Jet is about a 500 size  brushless motor and turns a 2 bladed prop around 20,000 RPM.

A few different Options.  Other than its extreme speed, another great feature of the Monster Jet is that it comes in two different styles,  A 2200kv and a 2400kv.

Firewall MountThe 2400kv motor is for those who want to go VERY fast but stay with a 3S or 11.1v Lithium Battery Pack.  The 2200kv motor is for those who want to fly extremely fast,  this version will require a 14.8v (4S) Lipo pack to hit these extreme speeds.

I’m sure that made not much sense to most, so let me try to explain it better.

  • 2200kv 11.1v battery 7 x 6 prop
  • 2400kv 14.8v battery 7 x 5 prop

Hardware. Like all the Grayson Hobby motors, the Monster Jet comes complete with gold 4.0mm gold quick connects, (motor side already factory soldered ESC and shringk in accessory bag)  prop collet, mounting screws, and a cross mount.

Nice! The guy on the gun needs to learn a thing or two about how they work, he needs to stand at the end of the strip and hold the gun still. Sweeping along like that will give misreads or no reads.

Grayson motors are awesome!! I have a couple and they last and never have issues. I would like to see the specs on the plane they were flying to get to 125. I believe it could be replicated as a nice easy foam board project. It probably would not go 125 mph, but it would be fast. (Could you give length and width of plane and if it has a flat or symmetrical airfoil)
