ArduCopter 3DR Hexa Waypoint Rescue

by FliteTest | July 1, 2013 | (22) Posted in Challenges

Josh gets stranded so we deliver rescue supplies with the ArduCopter 3DR Hexa autonomously using waypoints!

Even though the ArduCopter 3DR Hexa is equipped with FPV, we wanted to deliver the supplies to Josh using only the waypoints and line of sight.

Setting up waypoints is as easy as clicking where you'd like the 3DR Hexa to go!

Chad was shooting aerial video with this AnyCopter Hex customized it with the RCTIMER 2-Axis Brushless Gimbal For GoPro.

Hahaha funny episode. But you could have managed to have a working parachute. The opening failed everytime...

Awesome episode. But I do have to wonder. Couldn't Josh have texted you his GPS coords, from his phone? Just thinking.

He had an iPhone - could be interesting to allow his phone to suggest a new waypoint to the APM. We might be able to do this with http://dronetrack.com

New location has a Radio tower! Awesome! And it appears to have been a rifle range, maybe? (numbered stalls and a dirt berm?)

Interesting...gave me a good laugh... you should do a challenge with these equipped with bomb drops and see who can get the closest to the targets.

I agree with you guys...the APM ROCKS! However, I'm not a fan of 3DR. 3 out of 4 APM 2.5's I've ordered from them have been bad. In fact, I have a $180 electronic brick in the 3DR box sitting on my desk...and I can't seem to get any help from them. So...go to HobbyKing and get the same board for $75 instead of $180. Outside of the customer support I've gotten from 3DR...I think the APM is the best Multi-Rotor board out there.

If you were using the technology available to you, why didn't you fly FPV.
