3Flite | Bixler DIY Bomb drop

by 3FliteUK | March 15, 2014 | (0) Posted in Just Fun

Unfortunately we didn't manage to get a video on last wednesday but this week, we've been head scratching to how we could make the Bixler 1/2 drop bombs, this incredibly resourceful method, uses a 2200mah 3s battery package, a simple turnigy servo and a separate HK transmitter! = Great fun.

Dropping cargo is something we are going to get into a lot more here at 3Flite so if you like it leave us a comment, requesting an idea and we'll give it a go!

This big box below the bixler breaks all plane aerodynamics. I recommend you to fix a rubberband in one end to the plane and second end to the servo, then use the servo to release the package.

Very cool and simple! Re: aerodynamics: perhaps you could simply rotate the box 90 degrees? It would produce significantly less drag that way.

aerodynamics aren't this designs good points however the Bixler 1 seems to cope with it very well and we were impressed, the reason we faced it like we did was because the wind opened the trap door quicker leading to a quicker release!

couldnt you just do that with the box turned 90 degrees? like still having the hinge at the back and the servo on the front just turned a bit.
