Hobby King Mini Skywalker 840mm FPV Success!

I did an article on this model a while ago but couldn't FPV it due to bad video quality. This video is of its first successful FPV Maiden.

Thomas was the first to work out that the Video Quality was bad when the motor was running. So we learned a lot from this flight and have since made some further changes which have improved the Quality even further.

We have swapped out the ESC and now using an RCTimer which is creating a lot less Video Interference Noise.  Also Improved the Camera mount along with Balancing out the prop to minimize vibration to the camera, all of which have made a significant improvement to the FPV experience with this setup.

The best part is Range with the 100mw FatShark 5.8mw system is great once you swap out the Antennas for a Skew Planar and Clover Leaf. I was still expecting range issue but had none at all. Flew out to 500 plus meters yesterday and no issues at all with the video.

Flight times on this little model are fantastic! 30min of flight time is easily achievable and I wouldn't be surprised if I could take that time out to 40min!

The idea with this model is all you need is the Goggles, Model and Transmitter. No ground station etc required . . hassle free FPV :)

Their is a thread I that I started on this build in the forum here:
Flite Test Thread

List of all parts used is in the video description.

I was too harsh on the FatShark Camera in the first feedback I provided which was due to its poor low light performance. But in decent light it seems to work fine.

I'm expecting this model to get so much use, that it will be worn out by the end of 2012!

Hope you find this useful :)

Cheers
Paul, Thomas (and Mummy)
