Average life of a RC Flight Newb

I thought i should give you guys a reminder of what is was like to be new in the RC flight world.

I also want to encourage all of the other newbs out there because its easy to drop the hobby because of crashes. I know its easy to give up because i almost did.

Anyways! I first got into the hobby last christmas. Ole saint nick aka(the parennts) gave me a Hobby Zone SUPER mini Cub. I loved the thing! And before i even flew it i was browsing youtube looking for flight tips. And guess what i found? Flite Test! I was instantly in love with RC flight! And on my first flight i was doing flips, rolls, and sharp turns. I was hooked! I went out to fly at least 4 to 5 days a week. My skill grew and grew until it happened. I decided to make floats for my plane and try it out on a somewhat windy snowy day. A downdraft caught the wing and slammed the mini cub to the ground.....I approached the plane and the wing was snapped in two.

This made me very...very sad. I had broken my prized possesion. But then i remembered a saying from Josh Bixler!! Bixler said that foamies were easy to repair! So i grabbed some glue and tape and fixed her up. The next day she was flying! I was very happy , but my love for RC Flight was scarred. I flew with extreme caution and never attempted acrobatic moves or flew in the wind ever agian.

Even though my love for RC flight was hurt i kept watching flite test. While i was watching a discovered that you can put CAMERAS in these things. So i did...and this happened.

It didnt work with the mini cub.

So i kepth looking for other ways to record my flights.

My love of RC flight was coming back! Right when i quite litteraly destoyed the mini cub. I didnt check the flight surfaces. The rudder was not connected to the servo wire. I chucked the plane and it took a nose dive to the ground. The prop broke, the tail cracked, and a wire on the battery severed. I was done. I stopped watching flite test, I stopped posting on the forums and i didnt attempt to repair the mini cub.

Three months after the crash I got a email from flite test. It said "flite test has posted a new article". That article was about the FT CRUZR. I loved the thing. I wanted the thing! so i looked up all of the parts and got back into the hobby! I saved up some money and.......i dint buy the stuff for the FT CRUZR. I bought a Phase 3 Phoenix II. Its 79 inch wingspan and FPV following drew me in. And i'm picking it up monday!

Its great to be back is all i can say!

Thanks Flite Test for reeling me back in!

P.S. To all the other newbs. If you crash dont give up! Pick up the plane and patch it up!
