Do you think the 9xr with frysky module will work with 900mhz fpv tx?
I've got a dx6 and with fpv on i'm luky if i get 600m,and when i tun it off i get around 1,5km.....
thanks...i did a qick search and there are'nt cheap solution with uhf system .....do you have any suggestion? or i must change fpv gear? I'm so happy with the 900mhz,the immage is so clear an on the ground test i made almost 2 km range,so i don't know what will be a good investment! Log In to reply
Yeah I know right?!?! Haha they are very expensive and you have to see which one is cheaper to change. If you get a 1.3ghz or 5.8ghz system, those work well with 2.4 Log In to reply
Excellent! I was looking into purchasing my first radio and ended up getting the OrangeRX T-Six. This side by side helped me, a newbie to the hobby, evaluate what is a very confusing topic for new flyers. (or soon to be flyers like me) Log In to reply

I wrote this on the 9XR forum on the end of a thread for transmitter modules. I can't find anything on the Flite Test forum about hacking into the main board and trying to turn a 9XR into a Taranis. This is a good thing. Here's what I wrote....
"Hello hopeful hackers, if you just jump in and start opening up the radio, plugging in the iron, going to the Source and buying resistors and other things (not necessarily in that order), be advised. First, take a good long look at the microprocessor pins. You will see that they are tiny and very close together. If this is your first time, you do not stand a cat's chance in hell of doing this successfully. Sorry for the bad news folks. In fact, and this goes out to all of you thinking of doing this, you will spend hours and hours squinting and trying to control your hands and it still won't be any good. Having wrecked the micro processor chip or Atmega as the experts would have it, now you will have to order and wait for a new main board from Hobbyking, and cope with changing out the old for the new one. More hours I'm afraid.
Of course, along the way you will face frustration and, quite frankly you will wonder about it all. You will have been suckered my friends, and suckered good. Having signed up for the whole 9XR program, the time has come to admit defeat.
So here's what you should have done. First find someone in the real world who has fought this battle and won. Second, ask them what was needed, in all, including skill, equipment and aptitude. Thirdly ask him/her if they will help you. Just don't try to do this on your own. Of course there is another way and that is to buy a Taranis from Fr Sky. I will stick with my 9XR just the way it is thank you. For all you ordinary mortals, like me, without the skill and knowledge to physically work with tiny tolerances, just appreciate what you've got, or if you really have to, get another radio. Best wishes to everyone."
PS I found the antenna mod too hard. If you don't know the science, all kinds of stuff can happen. Once again, be thankful for what you have. It works. One more thing. I went ahead and downloaded/uploaded OPEN TX onto my 9XR. Then I found that I couldn't reverse the process.
