Best FPV mid-air collision

by BorisB | June 6, 2013 | (6) Posted in Just Fun

The fun just started with my QX-9....went for some hardcore chasing during the second flight and we lost each other for few seconds on high altitude what became fatal.

My carbon frame stayed undamaged, but the electronics are fried due to the water. Still waiting to see what the real damage is. I just hope my gp3 survived.
Unfortunatelly my GP3 stopped recording a couple seconds before the impact. I used my bad quality DVR shots to give you impression what went through me during the high altitude freefall.

This was my worst crash ever in FPV history, which I want to share with you.

Very sweet. Well put together.

Really suggests the FPV experience,

Putting in the raw transmitted video at the end is very honest to those who think the first 2 minutes is the real-time expeience.

Thanks. yeah DVR shot show really what I saw and how fast it all went. Although the quality I see in the goggles is better than you see in the DVR. I don't have those horizontal lines.

My brother was all excited when I would show him video of my FPV flights. He visited me recently from out of state and I let him wear my Fat Shark Attitudes and he was underwhelmed. He had been imagining the videos is what I was seeing with the goggles all along.

That's one of the gripes I have with Flitetest, they never, or that I can recall have explained to their audience the difference in the experience. I don't think it's dishonesty or they're actively trying to mislead, they have just been in the hobby for so long, I don't think they realize the vast majority of people not in the hobby are unaware there's a huge difference in the real-time and video experience.

If your gp3 is fried, and you use a second camera for FPV, take a look at the Contour Roam 2. It is waterproof to one meter without any case. Because it is waterproof, there is no video out for FPV.
I like the dvr footage as well.

My GP3 black worked fine the next day after drying in my car. I was so happy, cause that's the most valuable on my rigs :D. I will check the Contour Roam 2 anyway. It's good to have a spare recording cam.

Rebuild was done in the same week. I sacrificed my other quad for some parts. It's flying again :D.
