I found that using sand block works real nice , it's a bit messier , but it gives better finish and you have way less chance to cut the paper.
I use a little sanding even when I cut it with a knife to give it the nice finish.

How cool was that! Instead of cutting from the bottom, cut from the top using the ruler to guide the knife (just like Josh did)..
