Just in, E-Flite has released a new mini version of their bigger Convergence VTOL. Here are the details.

Are you looking for a VTOL RC plane? The Mini Convergence is a pretty good option with a convenient size and impressive performance. The Mini Convergence is E-Flite's latest foray into the world of vertical take-off aircraft. With their successful bigger Convergence PNP and BNF models last year, it seems that the mini version will also be a hit. Here's the flight video.

Spec and Features
The Mini Convergence is, as you would expect, quite a bit smaller than the original at a 16.3" (410mm) wingspan. It is also quite light with a 8.9oz (253g) flying weight.

You'll need to get your own 6+ channel receiver which is sold separately in the PNP model. The BNF model comes with a Spektrum DSMX receiver. All you have to do is plug in a 3s 800mah battery to bind and you'll be away.

There's also no assembly required meaning that you can get into the air much quicker. It also comes with three color scheme options with seperate decal sets included in the box.

As the aircraft has the versatility of flying like a multirotor and a sport plane, you can fly both indoors and outdoors. Flipping a switch after flying out of an open window transitions you to forward flight mode. That's what makes this plane so unique - you can take off from a small area just like a quad, fly fast like a jet and then land vertically at the end of your flight.

To add to the experience, Horizon has included its state-of-the-art refined control system for flight control making the aircraft very easy to fly indeed. Stability and Acro modes can fit the needs of both intermediate pilots all the way to the advanced end of the scale.

It should be mentioned that, ignoring all of the extra features this airplane possesses, the Convergence is simply a beast when it comes to speed, climb and aerobatic performance. It is extremely capable as a conventional, straightforward flying RC plane - nevermind the awesome VTOL capability.

On top of everything, the plane is FPV-ready meaning that you can install your own FPV setup onboard for a unique first-person-view experience. How neat is that? You can check out the everything you need to get started with FPV on our store.

How it Works

The Mini Convergence uses a clever system for achieving VTOL capabilities. Its simple delta-wing design with three brushless motors are all that is needed. There are two rotating motors on the wing and a fixed-position motor in the tail.

In the vertical flight mode, the two wing-mounted motors swivel up into the vertical position to provide lift and flight control along with the motor in the tail. In airplane flight, the wing-mounted motors rotate forward into the horizontal position and the model’s elevons take over pitch and bank/roll control. When it comes to yaw, control in the airplane flight mode is provided by the wing-mounted motors differential thrust.

There's an automated transition that makes it super easy for new pilots to get the hang of VTOL action. Within the 'brain' of the machine, refined flight control software has been expertly tuned by Horizon's designers and engineers to make the aircraft as easy and predictable to control as possible.

The Original, Bigger Convergence

Before the Mini Convergence came the 650mm wingspan original. We made a review of this in 2017, so check it out! You can find out more about this version of the Convergence here
