First FPV flight in New York City

by NYbySky | March 13, 2013 | (3) Posted in Just Fun

This was the first fpv flight of my sky surfer RC plane. Most of this was shot while flying LOS yet there are some portions that were shot while I was flying FPV. This is in Flushing Meadows Queens. I have been working on this setup for a few months at this point and my setup will be listed below.

Primary footage was shot with the gopro 3 silver edition

Camera- FH18C from Foxtech Hobbies

TX- Frequencey (1280) This was a 400mw with the heatsink removed and then I put on a much lighter one which can be found here.  I would reccomend doing this modification as it makes the transmitter signifigantly ligther while still keeping it not hot when there is engough air flow.
Here is the Heat Sink

RX- A standard law mate 1.2ghz reciever which is once again set on 1280mhz.

Screen- I am currenly using a pair of fatshark RCV922 aviator video goggles with the video in function on.

Overall this has been a very good fpv setup to start with and I would reccomend it as it has been fairly easy to setup. As for retailers I would reccomend buying everything from readymaderc as overall their products have been delivered the fastest and are very good quality.

Thanks for reading and watching

Nice video! Looks like you have a good setup. Hopefully if I get any money back from my tax return I'm going to buy me a FPV system.

PS. Don't be going after any jumbo jets like the guy did a few weeks ago.

Thanks, when you get your fpv system show me some videos and yes I know not to do anything stupid like that although after this flight I realized that I was flying a little to close to Laguardia Airport.
