I'm Definitely coming. Could you post any rule sets for the event. For example: Im building a plane with Monsterplane with bombdrop that fits in a footlocker. It looks possible for me to put an Airsoft gun on it for the the "Kill" the flitetest crew event. Just want to make sure that if I do this that it would be safe for others and would not cause trouble at the event.
Also, would be really cool if there was a foamboard plane design competition, or an experimental foamboard event where people show off their own custom designs. That might bring together the crowd that likes the design, build, and sharing aspect of the hobby. It would be neat seeing what innovations come out of that sort of interaction. Just a thought. Again thank you for setting this all up, can't wait to get my dad off the Realflight7 and really into the air. He doesn't know it yet, but I'm building him a plane for the event.
( '-')7 Good luck, hope the kickstarter goes well.

Hi Dontarose. The airsoft gun sounds cool. Unfortunately I think it would violate AMA safety rules. Although I don't speak on behalf of Flite Test, I believe they are trying to make it an AMA sanctioned event. For a full list of AMA safty rules go here: http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/105.pdf
Good luck and I hope to see you there!

After looking at my post, I would amend the above statement to read "an AMA sanctioned non rulebook event"

We need a new FT plane just for this event. We need a compact travel plane that packs into a smallish box. I'm thinking a reasonably nice plane could be packed in a box that is not much larger than a shoebox (not counting the transmitter). It wouldn't have to be the hottest plane around, just something that would be fun to fly and could be carried in a suitcase with some other stuff. It wouldn't have to be four channel, since a breakdown wing might pose some difficulty with the servos/pushrods. A flying wing might work though.

I won't be able to make the FF, but I would like to see a travel plane for other adventures.

Hello, really thinking about making the trek out to Ohio with my son and my father. One question, will 72mhz be allowed please? I recently got back into the hobby after about a nine year hiatus to raise a family etc and have not had the $ to invest in new radio gear. An old school radio board would probably not even be required- whiteboard maybe with name and frequency and possibly cell number, ama card. Really want to come but have to live within the means. Thanks!

Hey Joe,

72mhz is fine, we'll just have to come up with a radio board and if you have an antenna flag just bring that.

Thanks!

I was going to say the same thing. I most likely will not be able to go, but would definitely chip in $5 to help make this an event to remember for those who go (and less of a headache for those putting it together).

That big field seems better suited for airplane flight. Will there be anything interesting there for multirotor enthusiasts (besides the great company of course)? Any good paths through those back woods?

Hi rcjose.
I don't speak on behalf of Flite Test, I believe they are trying to make it an AMA sanctioned non rulebook event but you would have to here from them. I believe you should be able to fly (with a Parkflyer AMA membership) any electronic or otherwise "quite" aircraft limited to 2 pounds in weight and speeds of less than 60 mph.
Good luck and hope to see you there!
