FT Sparrow Workshop

On November 4th, NYCMakerspace held an FT Sparrow workshop in Pelham Fritz Recreational Center in Marcus Garvey Park, Harlem NYC. Organized by Mohamed Haroun. and hosted by NYCBobby (Robert Stark), about 15 FT Sparrows were built and flown in Marcus Garvey Park.  Thanks to Flite Test for making the plans free and thanks to Columbia University for use of their laser cutter.  We were able to make 4 FT Sparrows from 5 sheets of Dollar Tree foam board, that's $1.20 per plane, add two short pieces of barbecue skewers and two rubber bands and some hot glue and you can build an entire FT Sparrow for $2.00, wow. And they're so cute and fly pretty well.  Unfortunately, I have no video of the flights but several were quite good. THANK YOU FLITE TEST!

Sara E. studies the roll-over technique
used on the fuselage.

Jack, the man with the hat, is a serious builder.  His Sparrow flew like a bird and Layla, sitting on his right with the blue woolen cap on, built a sweet flying glider.
