How to solder XT60 connectors

I know why you connect both the connectors together before soldering (to prevent the pins moving) but that leaves the annode and cathod exposed on the other end of the plug just waiting to get shorted out on some random piece of metal - eg a watch strap or ring which would prob spot weld to the connector and glow white hot! (with your wrist/finger in the middle)

I just dont connect the two plugs together when doing the battery end (always do it when doing the esc end, but if your using such a high watt soldering iron then I would heatsrhrink at least one of the metal bits sticking out before soldering.

I know this is obvious to some people who are electrical engineers and know the risks, but a few people will be newbies and possibly not of thought of a bit of jewlery while working with 8ah high C batteries!

I always just chop the bullets off, will try desoldering them the next time and see if it's any neater. Thanks for the tip.
