To the FliteTest Community;

This will be our last posting for the summer till next season.  It has been a great school year and on behalf the MESArc program, thank you so much for supporting the students and program. Your continued interest is what keeps the kids and the hype going. We now have another middle school in town starting up the same program, so it should be fun next year! Thank you!

We wanted to end on a good note and Jack's foldable mini quad design called the Yellow Jacket was a perfect way to represent the program going out for the summer. A big thanks to @rezq911 for suggesting to Jack the perfect name of "Yellow Jacket!" It was obvious and we took it.

Here is a little recap of Jack's process through this creation:

The changes he made was taking away the bottom plate of the swivel, this allowed for better movement of the arms with gear attached to it.

Below is the finished product with motors attached.

We thought it turned out great, and in the video you will notice that the arms are able to turn a lot better and trully fold like he wanted it to. The entreprenurial element looks great too, the build kit that Jack has been putting together for sale on Altitude Hobbies consists of an 1/8" MDF version and/or a 1/8" Carbon Fiber version. All coming with hardware and nylon M4 both end threaded spacers. It has been fun experiencing pricing agreements between Jack and Altitude, a great learning experience for Jack. Below is a pic of the MDF verison;

Now Jack was fortunate also to work with Protech Composites, who helped Jack create a carbon fiber option of his quadframe for sell too.  A big thanks to the Olson brothers over at Protech for making this a reality for Jack. Below is a pic the Carbon Fiber Yellow Jacket.

If you have an idea that you might want to carbon fiber out! Contact them, they will help you make it happen.

Jack goes into detail on how to construct the frame, first step, prepare the base with a set of screws and the 45mm spacers.

Second step is to glue the support spine on the arms;

Third step is to construct the foldable arm mech;

Fourth step is to mount the bottom plate to the top plate;

Final step is to install your equipment and go fly! Jack goes into detail of recommended ways of installing your equipment on the frame.

Here is the data sheet containing the recommended parts for this frame:

To go along with the project is some cool images for the frame and Jack's created Yellow Jacket Logo that is engraved on the MDF build kit option.

We would like to thank you again for reading the article and watching the footage Jack worked hard to create for you all.  If this frame is something you are interested in, please visit the following link for frame options:
