Pandora Review by a beginner

Shortly after receiving my wings I destroyed my Apprentice! Apparently when doing an outside loop one must ease off the throttle on the down:)

A club member was learning to fly using the Freewing Pandora. It can be put together in 4 configurations; tricycle/tail dragger, high/low wing.

I purchased the plane as a PNP and used the Rx from the Apprentice.

Portability is okay. The main wing does not fit in the trunk of a car (Prius, Elantra) so the back seat back rest has to be lowered.

The main wing attaches using 2 scres that, in my openion, could be shorter to reduce the number of turns required. The use of thumb screws would be ideal. 

Assembly was easy except for figuring out which screws went where. Download the manual before buying it to see if this acceptable to you.

Quality comes accross as high. The control surfaces have ABS hinges.

The centre of gravity and trim were perfect out of the box. One or two down elevator clicks.

This plane is so stable that when my wife decided to learn to fly my concern was that it would be too stable and she may not get enough experience correcting for unwanted rolls or pitches. We purchased a second plane and we had them in high and low wing configuration.

I think this could be the recommended plane for beginners. Once comfortable flying in the high wing configuration it is easily converted to a low wing for getting into some more fun flying and different handling characteristics.

Pandora compared to the Switch. I like doing my own paint job for high visibility. The triprop was replaced with a dualprop. The wheels were replaced to reduce cross wind effects.
