I purchased the ragecams modded gopro 3 black edition. My kit came stock other than the interchangeable lens option of using both a 5.4mm or 4mm. I love this mod because I personally did not need the crazy wide angle and for all my uses I still have a super wide viewing angle with out the distortion.

So for someone who has never used a GoPro, what exactly are the differences of the Ragecam version? WIll they modify a camera you already own? How much do they charge?

Also, I have seen the fisheye effect in many videos. Is there no software that can fix this in post?

Yes you can send in our gopro and they will update it. The gopro comes with one lens and with the mod you can change it out and use different lenses.

So the factory lens is fixed, and the mod is a removable lens mount? Is there any standard to the removable lenses, or must they all be purchased from Rage?

You would need to ask Rage but yes they are a special threading for the camera inside. If you watch the whole video i show how you can remove and install it. Plus some great flight footage.

Those are pretty pricey lenses, but they definitely create good results.
I tested out the Sunex 4.1mm f2.8 lens in comparison to the ragecam 4.1mm. I originally thought they were the same, but it turns out they vastly different. The ragecam is shorter than the stock lens. While the sunex sticks out almost 15mm. The ragecam is a sharper lens, but its 3-4x the cost.

Cost vs. Quality always one of those things. This is not for everyone but well worth the cost.

Anything is better than that horrible fisheye lens that's on there. Even on the cropped "narrow" mode, you still get distortion.
Also, your post is about buying the pre-modded GoPro. I bought a used GoPro black with a chipped lens, and literally cracked the stock lens off. Here is a video of my setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSiNF2Oj6XY
