Seawind Review

Ever since we started testing our new water resistant foam board, we have been obsessed with the water.

In one of our first episodes with Peter, we put the Hobbico Tidewater to the test. Hobbico has since released the Seawind, which is larger and has retracts, lights and a very scale cockpit.

Not everyone has a lake close by, so the Seawind’s landing gear is a huge plus. We tested the flight characteristics, stall, aerobatics and power in the air.

After we tested the Seawind’s air capabilities, we put its water handling to the test! We saw what it could do on the ramp, taxiing into the water, taking off and the overall water maneuverability.

Overall the Seawind has a lot of improvements compared to the Tidewater, and we had a blast flying it.

In our recent Update Video, a lot of people commented that they enjoy classic reviews. We heard that feedback and thank you for it. Let us know what else you would like us to review in the comments below!

Hey guys. I love the reviews, and the new format for them. One thing that would be great is take some members designs that are posted, build, and review. Win win.

Very nice plane, but there is one minor mod I would add to it, and that is to put the water rudder retract on a separate channel. If you skim something like a tree or something like that with the gear up, that rudder could end up getting ripped off. It's good as it is for those that have 6 channel transmitters (seeing as it has flaps too), but if you have more channels, I would put it on a separate channel so you can fly gear and rudder up... assuming the rudder is on a separate servo...

Thanks for another review. I think that you could have shown what the undercarriage springs do; where the lipo goes; and confirmed the CofG.

Afterthought, since watching the FT Sea Duck episode, this model doesn't look that good. LOL :-)

Thanks for the review!
That was funny when the decal flapped in the wind. Maybe Peter could develop a poor boy's sound system. 😄

I have the smaller foam Seawind, and what really worked well for me on the wing tips was to use a small end of a ziptie on each wing. Just enough to keep the wings from digging in. Works like a charm. I will try and post a pic later on how I mounted them.

Thank you for your additional feedback. I believe you might have demonstrated the function of the undercarriage springs, where the lipo goes, and confirmed the CofG app.
