TBS Discovery Summer-Discoveries Part 2

In this 2nd part of my Summer Discoveries "Trilogy" I show you around the Mountains at Reichenau, then over the nice city "Kirchberg" and finaly in the sometimes confusing backlands near the castle Kranichberg. I already got lost there once because all the hills look quite similar. Check this vid to see the story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WZIMTryUxI

Great flying and awesome scenery. I wish all this stuff had been invented back in my climbing days! Just loving these mountain flying FPV videos.

Incidentally, what sort of range are you getting out of those FatSharks(?) with the omnidirectional antennae? I didn't see any large base station at the beginning of the video so guessing you are just on the built in receiver.

Your right, here i used the 5.8 rx (the nexawave one) from the new fatshark attitude sd. Its great and gives me 1-2km range. 1km with spw antenna and 2km and more for helix. (I use 5.8 600mw)

Well that's good to hear as I have a brand new FatShark AttitudeSD sat on my desk right now waiting for a play!

I bought my FatShark Attitude in the end of March from Hobbyking, so I'm not sure whether it contains the new, more sensitive receiver.
But, to be honest, I´m not impressed by the range (I'm using the stock 250mw transmitter).
Using my new CP antennas didn't really improve the range either.
Also. when running the transmitter on a 3s Lipo, I´m often experiencing video dropouts (even on just a few meters distance!), which will last for a few seconds. I do not have that problem when running on a 2s lipo.
By the way: great flying!
And please continue making those excelent video's. I'm one of your many followers on Youtube (and also living in Austria)!

I used the 250mw one with good range (~500m) and had seldom dropouts. So you might have an issue here (like a looks antenna?)
or does your copter block the line of sight to your RX antenna? try mounting the copters video TX antenna on the "belly" of the copter. Maybe you need higher landing gear for this - I just use carbon rods zip tied to the "feet" of the discovery. on the bottom attach some foam to have soft landing. this weighs only a few gram. Having the antenna on the bottom really gives good video signal. you can even tilt the antenna forwards a few degree (10-20) because most of the time you will "lean" fwd. with the copter - so in this case the Antenna will still hang down straight giving you the best picture.

greetings,
