Tricopter tilt made from LEGO

by keskkesk12 | August 8, 2013 | (5) Posted in How To

When i ordered the items for my tricopter, i forgot to order the parts for the tilt mechanism, so i had to be creative. I got the idea of making it oit of LEGOs, so i did, and this is how it turned out.

I don't know if I could trust something made from multiple parts like that. Have you tested it in flight?

I like the concept, but how strong is the plastic from the lego? From the past, I know that the plastic would strip or break easily. Just a heads up.

The plastic is actially really strong!! And with the CA-glue it is super robust

If you need one, I have about ten yaw mechanisms of the RC Explorer variety. It's a long story. PM me if you're interested.

Wow! Taht tilt mechanism is awesome! I live in Germany and couldnĀ“t order the true rc explorer Hobbyking tilt so I used a modified webcam-stand ;D
The whole power of your motor is pulling on two small lego-parts of your tilt, only fastened with CA. I would use additionally two to reinforce your first three zip ties and wrap them around the tilt.
Nonetheless a great job!

It might look a little weak, but until now it has held up perfectly and i have had some crashes. And if something should break, then you can eazily replace it ;D
