Biography
Started model building around age 7, plastic planes at first, free flight chuck gliders and the like. Moved onto balsa buildups, rubber band powered Guillows, Peck Polymers, etc. First RC plane was a House of Balsa 2x6, built it by myself, covering and all at age 9. Loved it, then one day my dad was flying it to altitude via a Cox Black Widow .049 for me and had a radio failure, nose dive from 200 feet right into concrete. After that I built a Global Baby Birdie, never saw flight and was lost over the years to the garage fairies. Got into model rockets for quite a while in between it all. After that point I moved into off road RC buggies around age 10, started with a Traxxas Rad II, moved up to a RC10 that I saved a whole summer for. Did that casually until my early teens. Then took a 13 year RC hiatus. Came back and got into 4WD on road cars, started with a Tamiya 350Z, very quickly moved to a Losi JRXS. Had fun with that until the nearest and best on road track closed. Took another RC break for a few years. Then about 6 months ago, after getting a Syma S107 right sfter X-mas, I got bit again. Bought a DX6i and a MCX2, very fun. Added a Mini Vapor and loved it. Flying in my living room was lots of fun, but of course I needed more. I found out about these dudes off YouTube called Flite Test, after that it was pretty much all she wrote. After finding out about Hobby King and the ridiculous low cost of RC equipment compared to when I started in the 80's I nearly passed out. After buying a Phoenix 2000 and all the extras I needed to build my Baby Blender speed build kit it was all over. I was hooked in a bad way. Made an order for all the components for a FT H-Quad one day later. So far I have purchased as speed build kits to help support the FT crew the following: Baby Blender, 3 pack swappable kit, FT Cruiser, FT Spitfire, FT 3D and FT Versa Wing, with some extra power pods and control horns to boot. I scratch built an Old Fogey after I built the FT Cruiser speed build kit . I couldn't be happier with all of the models FT has put out. Had to add a Hitec Aurora 9 after I saw David's love of it, and the limitations I was hitting with my DX6i and my full house glider. My last two acquisitions were a Horizon Hobby Nano QX and a Micro Spitfire BNF. So now I have a fleet of planes that hardly fit into my apartment and a very understanding girlfriend who supports my hobby. I have to really thank the crew at FT they have inadvertently been helping me through a very rough patch of my life and I am grateful for all their hard work. I look forward to each and every episode and even more so each new speed build kit that is released.
