Howto mash up main gear and motor pinion

by wongthomas | May 20, 2012 | (8) Posted in Tips

I can be quite difficult to do a nice mash up of the main gear and the motor pinon.

You don't what it to be too losse or to tight. I found that the most easy way of doing this, is by using something as low tech as paper.

so you need a piece of paper and scissors

Then you just slide the paper in between the main gear and the pinion

Then you just put a little force on the whole motor, and tighten down the screws that holde the motor in place (make sure to use thread locker, as you don't what the motor to come loose).

Should look something like this

Then just turn the motor to remove the paper, and now you will have a good mash of the gears, fast and simple

Hope you guys enjoyed this little tip.

I suppose this is to get an optimum separation between the gears? Not too tight, not too loose... I'm not a heli guy...
