I think what they may be trying to say is how to "Throw OUT" (dispose of) a lipo battery, not “throw of”. I also believe that the idea behind adding to salt to the water is to make an electrically conductive liquid that will discharge the battery. After demonstrating in the video that the last step is to tighten the lid on the glass jar, he's right in saying "It makes the battery blow up". If there's any energy left in the battery, it'll begin producing hydrogen and oxygen gas where the main wires were cut. If enough pressure is produced, it'll shatter the glass and with a little luck, there'll be an ignition source nearby that will ignite the gas like the Hindenburg. Perhaps it could be left next to window drapes and a candle. It may be a way to collect on home insurance since a fire inspector might not suspect a lipo battery as a source of accelerant. It could be a good CSI movie plot. Yes, I am being sarcastic and yes, this is the most dangerous suggestion I've seen posted on Flitetest. That’s just my opinion though, and I could be missing the point completely.

You are right!!!! IS TO MAKE THE BATTERY BLOW UP....THE HOUSE!!!!

JIM FOX is totally right. It is not safe at all.
This is the way to do it safe

1. If any LiPo cell in the pack has been physically damaged, resulting in a swollen cell or a split or tear in a cell’s foil covering, do NOT discharge the battery.Jump to step 5.
2. Place the LiPo battery in a fireproof container or bucket of sand.
3. Connect the battery to a LiPo discharger. Set the discharge cutoff voltage to the lowest possible value.
4. Discharge the battery until its voltage reaches 1.0V per cell or
lower. For resistive load type discharges, discharge the battery for up to 24 hours.
5. Submerse the battery into bucket or tub of salt water. This container should have a lid,but it should not need to be air-tight. Prepare a plastic container (do not use metal) of cold
water. And mix in 1/2 cup of salt per gallon of water. Drop the battery into the salt water.Allow the battery to remain in the tub of salt water for at least 2 weeks.
6. Remove the LiPo battery from the salt water, wrap it in newspaper or paper towels and place it in the normal trash. They are landfill safe.
