Tough Quad Domes

I have been using various plastic domes for my quads, and have never been really happy with them as they are usually too soft, or to britle.

So i had been looking around for a good alternative when i read somewhere about using a security camera's Dome for my quad, as they are designed for toughness and taking abuse.

I found these on eBay they were under 8 € for 2, which includes postage aswell.

Once you unscrew them the dome is left, and it fits perfectly over the Quad.

There are some other useful things left over once stripped down, like the outer-ring, or inner Black shield, as well as the flashing LED, that can be used for a navigation light ?

The next task is to secure the dome down onto the board, this can be done either with some elastic bands, or a more rigid method of screwing it down.

Update: here is my solution to locking down the Dome.

What i used was some glassfibre PCB board and a plastic screw with some washers to space it off the board and a nut.

I hope it helps you in your solution :-)
