Antenna Tracker Sneak Peak

Hi Gang

Over the past months I've been doing a lot of cross country low level flying. I'd been finding it increasingly difficult to juggle tracking the aircraft while maintaining control. After some prompting from a fellow FPV pilot (purge98) I decided to make an antenna tracker.

I wanted something inexpensive and simple. The system I came up with comprises of a controller, master and slave. The controller sweeps the master 360 looking for the strongest video signal. It then passes this information to the slave and then repeats the process all over again.

I'm really pleased with how the system as it's allowed me to focus solely on flying my aircraft.

Cheers

Hi Gang

I've updated the website to be a little clearer as to what is included in the kit. I've also added instructions which should also help.

Very cool idea, just wondering if it would be possible to decrease lag time by watching the signal for a peak, then decline, and then jumping back to the peak position and scanning a smaller area more frequently. For example, you power on the master and it starts scanning. at 20 degrees it finds a signal and continues scanning, at 25 degrees the signal is at it's highest, and beyond that it starts to decline, so the master sends the command for the slave to jump to 25 degrees. the master then reverses direction and scans a 90 degree area around the peak (45 degrees in each direction) back and forth, updating the slave with the peak each pass, and adjusting it's center as well. Does that make sense?

Hi thatjoshguy

You could try something like that. I tried a few different protocols but I found this one worked best. Less stress on the servos and also better data.
