Argonay Miniquad Racecourse

by FliteTest | August 6, 2014 | (11) Posted in Just Fun

We were invited by the Airgonay RC club to come check out their beautiful miniquad racecourse.

With so many people flying FPV at the same time, you can imagine the headache that comes with adjacent video channels stepping over eachother. But the guys at ImmersionRC have come up with an awesome solution.

Along with their regular right-hand SpiroNET Omni antenna, they are going to start offering a LEFT-hand circular polarized antenna. This mean that if your friend is flying on channel 1 and using a right-hand antenna, you would be able to fly on channel 2 with a left-hand antenna with no fear of stepping on each others signals. And this pattern can continue: Ch1(R), Ch2 (L), Ch3 (R), Ch4 (L), etc.

They are also integrating this technology into their patch antennas. This allows more people to fly at once and as you may know, the more pilots you can get into the air, the more fun you and your friends are going to have!

While the club members had homefield advantage, the course had an insatiable hunger for FT quads.

We want to thank Herve and the entirety of the Airgonay RC club for letting us hang out for the day. We hope that you check them out and if you are in the area go fly with them! See if you can do better on this course than us!

Have you ever flown a miniquad course? Chat it up in the forums!

PLEASE Josh let have a quick episode on your mini box racer, it looks a simple build... Tell us what motors and FCB your using etc. Though you look like a Sunday Driver compared to Alex... I hope this type of Quad racing really takes off as it really looks a blast.

I really liked that ep! I see you have to deliver some decent footage but real racers will go without the penalty of carrying a gopro.... However I have an idea for those races. You can have a lightweight gps (like those little cheesy mtk 3329 etc) and BT module attached to your osd so you could see all the racers on the track in your osd - that means you could see sneaking up racers from behind on your "radar" (if they have the same equipment as well, of course). What I've done with FPV cars is a little curved mirror (cut in half, it was some cheap sticky mirror for the automobile aftermarket - to stick on your mirror) in the bottom of your cameras FOV. You can see everything sneaking up behind and above you. BTW the french know how to party. USA looks no fun FAA grounded.

Very nice I suppose but I DO prefer your product reviews AND Flite Tips. How about... flying topography in the wind. I am finding all kinds of 'interesting' things happen with wind, sink zones etc. when the land is NOT flat

Josh,
Could you give us the specs on that quad you're running? That frame looks like its in my (thrifty) budget range. Another great episode. Thanks.

Please stop teasing us with the planes in the background! I want plans! I want to buy them! I want to fly them! I can't keep waiting for Mondays and Wednesdays in hopes of a new plane! It's killing me. Thanks for all you guys do!
