FPV Drive 1 and My FPV Setup

by ghostrider03z | June 28, 2013 | (0) Posted in Just Fun

I got 5.8 500 Mw FPV all setup on my mini summit and made this really low quality video! Lol I got FPV and love it, very fun. I got my stuff from foxtechfpv and the cloverleaf antennas from seirrarc

MY 5.8GHZ FPV SETUP

Vtx/Vrx - http://www.foxtechfpv.com/58g-400mw-vtxrx-p-550.html

Camera - http://www.foxtechfpv.com/fh18c-520tvl-wide-voltage-mini-camera-ntsc-p-923.html

Lens (2.8mm) - http://www.foxtechfpv.com/28mm-wide-angle-lens-p-851.html

Lens (2.1mm, may want more wide angle view than 2.8mm) - http://www.foxtechfpv.com/21mm-wide-angle-lens-p-284.html

Antennas (Vtx/Vrx) - http://www.sierrarc.com/index.php?m...ducts_id=275&zenid=5hvf3u4utkgqvq44i7bq2lgd41

Since foxtech stuff and the antennas have different connectors I need adapters - http://www.sierrarc.com//index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67_88&products_id=252 (need two for Vtx/Vrx antennas)

Torroids for rf interference reduction - http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11_15&products_id=326

Screen - Old dvd player

So my Mini Zephyr can carry the gear but not really good, so I made a new wing.

40 inch wingspan, orange gyro, 3s 2200, microjet motor (2212-06 2200kv), kf4, very nice... Carries a gopro under half throttle.

Here is a diagram of the wiring of my fpv setup. Hope some people find this helpful.

A few nights ago I did some testing on this setup with my dx7s...Here are the results:

(from a few days ago) so tonight I had my dad on a fourwheeler drive down our road with my plane and we tested range and video interference. So from where I was standing to the end of our road is 2,300 feet. I first tested my dx7s range, all plugged into my mini zephyr with no fpv. My dx7s made it to the end of the road still going strong. I got some interference when I went completely behind trees but that was it, once the trees were passed, the signal was back up.

The next test was with my plane all plugged in WITH my fpv plugged in as well. I am using the foxtech 5.8ghz 500mw system with bluebeam whip antennas on the vtx and vrx. I had amazing video the whole way down my road and the whole way back up my road, except when I went behind those trees, I got some interference. So my video went the 2,300ft down my road while my plane was powered. Also my dx7s never lost signal when I went down the road with my fpv plugged in.

If you didn't enjoy the video, I hope the other info will help you in some way.

While I don't have a nice RC car as you apparently do, but I had the same thought about getting used to FPV. I have a cheap $20 kids RC car and I intend to put the camera/tx on the car and run it around the back yard.

If I crash, the unit only falls about 3 inches. I've also been wondering about a DVR to capture FPV video because I don't think I'll be putting my nicer camera on the plane or copter until I have a lot more experience.

Thanks for sharing. At least I know I'm not the only one thinking about putting FPV on a ground vehicle..
