FPV luggage bag

As you know from my previous article, I like cheap stuff. The main aim of this project was to make cheap easy portable FPV ground station including RC transitter, HMD and my 8 inch prop quad. By this article, I want to share some of "in progress" photos. I hope somebody will find it useful.

Firstly I bought used luggage bag. It's measurements: 70 x 48 x 28cm (27 x 19 x 11 inches).

Then removed unnecessary pieces from it.

Next step - baseplate for quad, HMD and RC TX. I made it from 5mm plywood. First getting marks for quad, HMD and RC TX.

You can see how the layout will be looking like.

First foam pieces of supporting walls, that all stuff would stay in place.

Quad support walls ready. It's covered using blue packing tape. Support walls are glued using hot glues.

HMD support walls (and base) ready.

HMD test fit.

Everything fits nice.

RC TX test fit. To keep everything in place I'm using small car tie down straps.

Looking not so nice, but it does the job...

I know, looks ugly too, but it works.

Test fit on baseplate.

One more photo in daylight.

Baseplate mounted inside luggage bag.

Second step - baseplate for two video receivers, diversity controller and DVR. Using same pluwood.

Trying to work without wasting material.

All pieces after cut.

Everything locked down by srews and hot glue for wood.

Stand alone ground station?

Everything in place:

Well, everything fits inside.

That's how my ground station and all equipment will look like in the flying field.

Back view. Support leg is made from removed handle.

Added DVR some days ago:

For traveling, this bag is very useful. To the flight sight I only need to take this bag and batteries. No more multiple walking to my car for FPV gear :) Of course, it’s quite big, but the gear in it also isn’t small size.

This was made to check if it's working as I expected. Next step will be, make everything more beautiful. Maybe will put porolon in empty spaces for more support.
