I just wanted to share the results of my FT Bloody Wonder build using Quill foamboard from Officeworks in Australia.
There was some concern that this board was far too heavy for flying models. I'll be honest and say that I too thought that this model would be too heavy to fly, let alone fly well.
It came as quite a suprise then that it doesn't just fly well - it's bloody brilliant! Not a word of a lie - this is one of the nicest parkfly/electric style models I have flown recently. It is very stable yet agile, will not stall and inspires confidence.
It can even perform a vertical take-off from standing without any support!
The setup is whatever I had in the workshop to hand:
- Axi Silverline 2212/20 outrunner
- HK 18A ESC
- Turnigy 1800mah 3S1P
- APC 10x4 slowfly prop
- HXT 9g servos
Just to confirm - this was Quill 5mm foamboard from Officeworks. I built exactly to the FT plan and made absolutely no attempt to lighten it.
Definitely one of my new favourites!
