Synapse slope soarer

After the success of my Depron Slope Soarer I wanted to build something for lighter winds. I also had a box of 6mm unskinned depron from Tradewarehouse.com which needed to be tested.

Ed's Synapse flying wing (ExAir) looked quick and easy to build, and it was. All done in a day. I followed his Method B build video where you build in the spar channel and formers and cut the sweep angle as you go. Thanks mate! Great instructions.

The Tradewarehouse depron is just the core material with no skin. It bends beautifully without kinking and just needs to be squashed along the leading edge fold rather than cutting a V, but I guess it's not as strong. Extra taping needed in vulnerable areas.

Here's the maiden in too much wind and on a poor slope.Wind strength up to 18kn and 45 deg off to the left

Flying weight with 4 x AAA battery pack and 3 ch Rx is 370g. 2 Hextronic 9g servos. Turnigy 9X with Elevon mixing.

More weight needed as the wind gets up.

Battery box with switch. Hobby King GT 2R Rx (works with Turnigy 9X)

Here's another video on coastal dunes in less than 10kn

and here it is in 15kn+ and rain

Very nice. Looks exhausting though.

You do get a workout walking up and down the slopes, but that's a good thing.

Looks addictive! :) I've a few beaches and dunes that look pretty similar near to where I live, I might give this a go. Thanks for sharing.
