FT Corsair - News Update

Here's a quick read article on some of the upcoming airplanes we'll be releasing to you early this year. 

Who's ready for some new DIY airplane kits? We know you are! There has been a ton of hype around the shiny new designs we have been teasing over the last months, so let's have a look at some of them - and mainly at the newly announced FT Corsair.

If you really want to taste what this aircraft will be like to fly, as well as getting more of an impression of its size and shape, here's a wintry live stream beamed directly from Flite Test HQ on the 14th January. 

FT Corsair 

The real Vought F4U Corsair was used in WW2 and the Korean War as a fighter, mainly operating from Carriers. It had a huge radial engine which made it one of the most powerful and one of the fastest fighters during the global conflict. 

In all, from the first prototype to the last variant, 12,571 F4U Corsairs were manufactured. We're sure to see at least a fraction of this number repeated in foam board when the kits become available! We can't wait to see the FT Corsair in your fleet. Here are some answers to your questions:

Which electronics will it use? 

Powerpack C will be the recommended option that you can use. 

What's the wingspan?

44ish inches. 

Which battery will it use?

A 4s 2200 will give you a ton of power, but you can dial it back with a 3s. This will give you more of a scale speed, which is Alex's taste. 

When will it be released as a kit?

We haven't put an exact date on it, but we're looking to get this one out perhaps before the P-40 in around February-March. First, as with all of our kits, we need to go through an extensive process of beta building, testing and quality checking to ensure it's the best product it can be for you guys in the FT community. 

FT P-40

The FT P-40 has been in the works for a while now, starting last summer when Andres Lu was interning with Flite Test. Good old Andres designed the FT Edge (a marvel of foam board engineering) and the FT Goblin (a fun FPV cruiser) but also came up with this new FT warbird. 

The P-40 will be coming to the Flite Test Store soon, but first, we need to tie up some loose ends to ensure that the kit is as good as possible for you. There are a lot of exciting projects happening right now and we can't wait to share them all with you as soon as possible. Here's one of them, pictured below, that you may have heard about - monster sized kits.

FT A-10

Closest to release is the A-10 kit which is planned for release in the last week of January. Although there will be a monster-sized version of this in good time, this particular release will be the standard size based off our C-motor pack.
