HobbyKing Replaces the KK2.0 with the KK2.1

HobbyKing just released a video on their HobbyKing Live channel announcing the release of a new KK board called the KK2.1. The formal product name is "Hobbyking KK2.1 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board With 6050MPU And Atmel 644PA" and it can be found on the HobbyKing website here. The PRODUCT ID is 9171000334-0.

Want to know more?  You can either watch my video or read the article below.

They said the original KK2.0 has been out of stock because this one is being released.

HobbyKing is claiming this controller board has "new found power with updated sensors, memory and header pins."

Upgrades include:

  • Atmel processor upgraded to Atmel 644PA
  • MPU upgraded to 6050MPU
  • Firmware upgrade from v.1.2 to v.1.5. They also note on the product page that there is an updated v.1.6 available.
  • voltage sensor has pin header so it no longer needs to be soldered to the board.
  • LED and buzzer now plug into board using a Y-harness, giving you a good visual reference

Based on their testing, they suggest increasing PID settings up 10% from the original board.

The buzzer doesn't have to be plugged in. You can just plug in the LED if you wish.

With the chip upgrades, I am hopeful this board will offer even more stability.  I am glad to see the price is still the same as the KK2.0, which is $29.99USD as of the writing of this article.

Please comment on any additonal information you have found about this board.

Mike

apm2.5 is a true autopilot system. capable of autonomous flight, return to home, loiter, many more flight modes. the KK is just a flight stabilizer. helps you stay level. apples and oranges. Both are great boards, just depends on what you want to do with them. KK is plug and play"mostly". apm2.5 has alot of setup time, and alot more money.

I was supposed to be in the queue. What with the increase in shipping charges from one page to the final bill?

The HobbyKing video outlining the new board is up here: http://youtu.be/WwG6qENc-W0 . That video seems to indicate that the new board is running different firmware than the 2.0. It's not just that they've upgraded the default to 1.5 or 1.6, but that it's actually a different branch with (confusingly) the same number. Perhaps the feature set is the same as the 1.5/1.6, but just recompiled for the new chips. Either way, think I'll order one and hope it arrives before the warm weather does in 5 months.

Hi guys,
I have been working on my shoppinglist for a while and I just can´t seem to get the perfect one. I decided to buy new quadcopter parts (actually a hole quadcopter) and this is the parts so far:

Hobbyking X525 V3 Glass Fiber Quadcopter Frame 600mm
Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 2826-1240kv Brushless Outrunner Motor (4x)
Turnigy Multistar 20 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC 2-4s (4x)
Hobbyking KK2.1 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board
Slow Fly Electric Pro 8045 SF (4pc) and the reversed ones
Accessories

Also see the picture (hole shoppinglist)
I´m not sure if this is a very good setup, first of all, is that quadcopter frame even the best choice?
Is the motor for that particular frame good or should I go with a different kind? Is the esc´s good or should i simply go with the Turnigy Plush? I´m also quite confused around the KK2.1 board, do I have to get the programming device for the board, becuase it´s stated as BK so i wonder if it´s possible to get another kind of programming device for it?
