Huge Pink RC Plane

First things first I know a lot of people have done this and its nothing new but here is my go at it. I put it together in like 40 minutes and its really big.

Well Im not really sure what else to say. This plane just flops around like Aladdins carpet in the air and kind of flies itself. I will say that I'm really happy to know that these motors i have laying around are actually useful! They can carry a lot of weight and i will probably use them on some trainer type plane ill build eventually..

Quad that the motors are from: http://www.rctimer.com/product_786.html
Also I use a 50 amp esc because I had nothing else to use haha.

Also this entire time I have been typing this article the cursor has magically shot up to the start of the article in the middle of me typing and I want to know if this happnes to anyone else.

Thanks for watching.

I also have the problem of the magic bouncing cursor. Sometimes some of what I just wrote also disappears. I'm trying to get into the habit of writing my article in a word document and then copying and pasting it into the Flite Test article editor. I've also got into the habit of uploading one photo at a time. The cursor can do it's magic bounce during the upload process and rearrange the photos by doing so. I'm guessing that the 'refresh' is a glitch in the automatic save feature that they recently added to the site.

I'm trying to think of the right word for this plane. Don't get me wrong, I like it. But the word "hilarious" comes to mind.

Good idea writing it in word first. Yes, it is a silly plane for sure though!

I think you should upgrade the motor and put a GoPro on it! Maybe even a 360 pan?

A gopro would be good since it would help balance the plane. It would need a lot of upgrades though to get it nice flying.

Yeah, I guess. It looked kinda shaky, but it did fly and thats the whole goal!

With gyro stabilization and some extra cutting time this has flying pig prototype written all over it :)

Bottom line is...... You have a sheet of foam flying. It has no true airfoil design so that is why it pogos around and is unpredictable. But in all you did what you set out to do, build a plane with 1/2 inch foam. Good job!

Interesting, but I wouldn't exactly call it a "plane". The same as a brick tried to a massive motor could be made to go into the air, but you couldn't call that a plane either :-/

it flies, it has a motor, it has control surfaces, its a plane.

try cutting away some of the nose part to give it a more "triangle" (delta) shape. I think it will move back the CG and make the plane fly a little better since deltas always fly well!!!

Might be jolly wrong, but by Your video it seems to me, that the plane is very tailheavy.
It's just drags around after a motor :)
I'd try to add massive weight to the nose to get CG at 1/3 of the length. So it'd rather nosedive than tailsink when powered off.
What amazes me is that 9gram servos manage that huge plane.
Great job on cheap and easy-to-build project!
