Indestructible Portable FPV Quadcopter

Here's my new (almost) indestructible FPV Quadcopter.Once the props have been taken off (prop savers.) It fits in a bag which is 43cm x 38cm. This is well padded and fits my quad, fpv gear, inc goggles, spare props and the gopro. This then straps to the back of my rucksack which holds a few tools, batteries and my DX6i.

The Quadcopter itself is made from 2 pieces of perspex which are 14x14cm. The booms are 1cm square alluminium tubes and are cut to 14cm in length. these are then bolted to the center boards using two bolts. The motor mounts are old ones which I hade from a previous quadcopter however they could easily be made from plywood. They are 2 sheets which are clamped together around the booms using 4 bolts. My KK2 board is then attached using 4 bolts coming up through the frame in the center and then more nylon standoffs are used to attach the board. My fpv camera up front is mounted using a metal bolt to prevent it from snapping off in a small crash. The esc's are mounted in the corners off the perspex frame which prevents them from being damaged. I've had quite a few big hits with this frame and so far all I've broken is the props. I love the small size because of it's portability and ability to fit through some very tight gaps.

If you'd like more information about this Quadcopter then leave a comment below and I'll answer any queries you might have.

Here's a few short videos which I've used this quadcopter in. If you enjoy them don't forget to Subscribe to my YouTube channel for more FPV flying videos in the future.

Enjoy,

Alfred

I'm just about to make another one. So yeah, I'll make another build log on it. This is about as cheap as you can get for a quad. The ally arms were about a £5 from my local hardware store. the perspex sheets were offcuts from my college so they were free, although you could use plywood it probably wouldn't be as strong, or look as cool :D The motors were about £10 each and then the Esc's were also about £10. The most expensive thing was the kk2 board. And then of course the radio gear and battery. Overall not including my Transmitter I would probably say this quad cost around £130. There are cheaper ways of making one but I would say for a beginner in quadcopters the kk2 board is a VERY good start. It's super easy to set up with the LCD on the front and with the newest firmware the auto level feature is great. If you want I could make the build log very indepth and beginner friendly.
