Laser cut H-Quad frame
So I've been salivating at all of the miniQuads flying around but I then realized that the motors and electronics were becoming rare so I decided to go a little bit bigger (I had tons of 7 inch props lying around) and designed this new laser cut Quad.
The original design that I drew out on inkscape is here: http://forum.flitetest.com/showthread.php?8696-New-H-quad-design&p=96658#post96658
Here it is!
The frame consists of bamboo plates with delrin arms. I put some clearance holes for the flight controller wiring on the top plate along with some handy battery straps.
The motor mounts are designed to accept the 16x19mm motors. I inherited the motormount design from my previous laser cut endeavours.
The arms are sandwiched between two of the layer plates.
And fastened using a lock nut.
Had to make stubby ESC to motor connectors since the arms were so short.
Mounted the ESCs onto the frame and connected them to the Multiwii. Added the M3 nylon spacers for the top plate.
Now sandwich the whole thing together.
So I'm pretty happy with this build, feels tidy and it's oh so very simple. Can't wait to get it in the air. Also moving to multiwii and having access to the C source was awesome; tons of features that I had never seen in the old KK boards.
