NTM Prop Drive 26-28A 1200kv Motor Review

This is a video review of the NTM Prop Drive 26-28A 1200kv motor.  I have been using these motors on a few multirotor builds and so far they have been working great, I have 20-30 flights and so far they are still quiet and running smooth.

I thrust tested the motors on the bench with both 3S and 3S Lipos, with a 8"x4.5 prop.  I take a reading at 50% throttle and 100% throttle.

I realized after testing that I am pushing the motors a bit over spec when running on 4S.  So far I haven't had any problems but who knows how they will be in the long term.

This is a video review of the SunnySky V2216-11 900kv Motors.  The bottom line these are great little motors, smooth and good build quality.

I paired them with 20A ESCs flashed with simonk, 10"x4.5 props and mounted them on a tricopter.

I broke it down into three parts: Overview, Thrust Testing and Test Flight

The reason your pulling so many amps is those slow fly props your using. For their size and pitch they always pull more amps than say and apc or other styled electric props. I run an 8x6 apc on that motor on 4s, and it only pulls 16ish amps I want to say using the same meter as you.

You should also be fine even witht hat 20amp number your getting. These motors unload from what I've read when in flight which reduces their draw versus static bench testing. Hope this helped clear up some of your confusions about the numbers.

Thanks for the comment, that helped clarify things.

As you mention the motors unload in flight so I guess that's why I haven't had anything burn up on me even after 40+ flights with the current setup.

at flite fest, durign combat, i ran this motor with a plush 25 amp ESC on a 2200 4 cell towing a streamer. Flew WOT untill the speed controler cut out. About a 4 minute flight. baked the windings in the motor, and destroyed the ESC. So 4 cell is a little over spec for this motor. Haha. I have onboard video from the flight. I'll upload it eventually.

Something I noticed about the motor specs you were looking at, HobbyKing used "E" props instead of Slow Fly props like you did, so that may have impacted your numbers.
