Simple Scout Parachute System

Before winter I had a explorer crash that was very scary for me because i was flying fpv.  I was thinking about this for along time and i thought I would try it today. We just had a party at our house and we had extra plastic table cloth leftover.

(This was before James Whomsley made the article on how to make a nylon parachute)

I found a great video on YouTube that helped me a lot.

I wanted to make it as big as the wingspan on my plane just to be sure.

The release mechanism was very simple with a servo on one side of the turtle deck and a rubber band on the other side.

My original plan was to put the parachute inside the front of the turtle deck, but it was too big.

First Test

The plane was very under powered, but still made it up there.

(Here is the video link... I can't find out a way of downloading it on the article unless i would get a youtube channel)

If I wanted to have the plane float down balanced than all I would have to do is move the string that is connected to the parachute on the center of gravity.
