The mishap adventure of the Storch

Today, I bring to you, three guys enjoying the wonderful RC hobby , come enjoy our adventure.

We decided to challenge each other on how to make an FT Storch your own!

This idea spawned from a late night, a package holding 64mm EDFs and plan to build three Storches. Well, it did not take long to start graphing EDFs on the bottom of the wing because none of us have used EDFs before. After a few minutes,  diabolical laughter, foam bits flying around the shop and maybe a lightning bolt; the creature was alive! We giggled in the delight of seeing EDFs pod on the bottom of the wing. Things began to escalate from there, as a twin Storch and S-17 Stoch were made as well to join the E-Storch.

What caused us to do this crazy challenge? A good sense of humor and a late night. The first plane we built was the E Storch because we just recently built a set of three Storches, and a package from Amazon came in with 64mm edfs. In no time flat, we a cut out two boxes for EDFs and than, and the E Storch was born. There may have been a key, and lightning bolts to bring this monster alive. If you are looking for you first EDF plane, do this mod. It flies as well as a Storch and can get 5 minutes with 2 3000mah 4s batteries. She feels the weight a little bit, but she still flies exceptionally well. Tracks rolls faster and even can slow down.

After this plane was created, the stakes were raised, with the influence of the B-17, we created a little brother for it, the S17 Storch.  To get the profile to be closer to the B-17, we created new tail feathers that mick the icon tail from the B-17. Additionally, for this plane to be a little brother, she needs 4 small motors on the wing! We ordered a set of older style drone motor set from Amazon, and under $50, we got 4 30 amp ecs and 2212 960k 2 CCW and  2 CW motors. Holy cow, she flew so well and efficient! We got 7 minutes on a single 2600 mah 3s battery!

Finally the white elephant in the room, the Twin Storch! Sadly, we did not get a good flight out of this plane. We were underpowered and tipped stalled easily :(

We lost most of the amazing characteristics of the Storch. The video explains this plane and how badly it flew..

Come join enjoy our mishappen adventure by taking a beloved designed and pushing it to the limits.

I'm really glad this is being enjoyed! The reason why we said it was "underpowered" because the twin fuses added a decent about of weight to the airframe and couldn't carry it very well. But I agree with you, the original Storch is an amazing trainer with the lower power setup.

Sorry guys, but there is no such thing as "underpowered Storch". The original plane can fly on 24g 80w motor. If you cannot fly on more than 4 times that, even with two fuselages, it's not the plane's fault.

But other than that, great ideas and great work! Had a lot of fun watching it. Keep up the good work, good luck and have fun!

Might be prop direction. Bad prop direction on the F-82 caused it to do some really weird stuff and stall weird.

Ok, NOW you've Lost me. LOL. The F-82 twin Mustang wasn't that ugly. They simply used the wrong version of the P-51. The F-82 was created from 2 'H' model P-51s. These were post WW2 models flown in Korea.
The F-82 has its fans OK.
Keep up the Great experimenting and work on your camera work. I DID notice that your sound quality is SUPERIOR to 99.9% of the videos submitted.

Thank you! I am glad you are enjoying the fun we had with the Storch. It's a lot of fun for us to give Andrew a hard time about that plane.

Which have you been wanting to try? The EDF is a blast! It is hilarious to see heads turn when it flies.
