You never know when you might need to fix somethings, so here are five great gadgets to keep in your flight box.

I like to keep on top of potential problems when I'm out flying. So many things can break and go wrong; a servo lead could sheer on a sharp piece of metal, or a prop nut could need tightening. This is why I always bring along a bunch of tools to the field.

1. Voltage Checker

You're going to need to know how much charge your batteries hold when you're out at the field. Instead of just guessing, it's a good idea to double check your voltages so you know how long you can fly for. This handy little battery checker can tell you the total voltage along with the voltage of each cell in your battery. It's super helpful and I wouldn't like to do without mine!

2. Battery Voltage Alarm

If your radio hasn't got inbuilt telemetry, this voltage alarm is a great way to find out when it's time to stop flying. All you have to do is plug it to your balance lead of the battery after programming your desired minimum voltage to the device. After that, when you've been flying for a while and the battery drains enough, your set voltage will trigger the buzzer telling you it's time to land. Simple!

3. Screw Driver Set

Who doesn't like a nice set of drivers in their tool box? If you're flying quads out at the field, these FT branded screwdrivers are perfect for making adjustments and carrying out repairs on the go.

4. Portable Soldering Iron

Designed for continuous use with 3s batteries, this soldering iron is so darn convenient. All you have to do is plug in a flight pack to power up and get soldering out in the open air. You can also use 4s packs, but only for limited times. With quads especially, field repairs are can be made with ease. Having these sorts of tools on you can give you the assurance to up your flying game without the fear that you'll be going home early.

5. Nylon Cable Zip Ties

Let's put it simply here, cable ties are one of the best inventions ever. For that reason, you're going to need some. If you're battery hatch keeps falling off - no problem! Just slap one of these around it. If your landing gear is falling apart, just apply a tie. These nylon cable ties are large enough for big fixes whilst staying small enough for finer wiring work within your models. Let's just say it's always worth having some of these around!
