Ultimate freestyle quad - parts and ripping

In the time that I have been flying I have gained a wealth of experience and collected a set of parts that work.

I spent a lot of time learning to fly and researching parts on the web. After flying different things since January in 2017 I have now become a competent freestyle pilot (well you can decide on that.) The parts below are just a collection of bit which make a brilliant combo and a formula. That thing that Steele is always on about.

Anyway, below is a summary of what I run, why I run it and a few flight videos.

The parts go as follows:

MRM 225 - really good with my 20mm modified rear deck and it has nearly the same motor mounting points as the chameleon which makes it handle well. I did this by buying some 20mm standoffs and another top plate. I then dremeled the two plates in half and the rest follows.

Plus it only costs £25 at the moment from some UK stockists. Another thing to note is that this frame is bombproof and has survived some real smashes where I feared the worst eg a road, several trees and the frozen ground from 100 ft up

DYS SE2205 2300kv - Really efficient yet still have adequate power and match the performance of the Armattan oomph velvet 2206 motors. Not like your going to cruise often but if you do long range these motors pull 10 amps at a fast cruise which is impressive for 5 inch props.

DYS XSD 30 amp escs - rock solid performance. Runs dshot 600 which is all that you will ever need and have never let me down... ever...ever

DYS F4 pro - really epic performance running betaflight firmwear. The magical 3.2 is awesome and this board has the OSD and current sensor built in which is decent. With filters off this thing is butter!

Runcam swift rotor riot edition - the very best from the very best in the business. What more is there to say? Epic picture quality, low latency (really important) and good looking

Foxeer tm 25 switcher - a cheaper alternative but lacks OSD PIDs which is a pain. It is also huge compared to the tramp and unify line but it is what I use. No gripes about the video though because it is excellent!

Immersion rc anntenas - its what I run at the moment but would prefer the tbs triumph! No major problems with video however but there is better alternatives

Crossfire micro receiver - the very best one for range and latency. Really epic range even on lower power outputs. This is so good some races require you to use it so everyone is on a level playing field

Tattu 1550mah 75c - awesome performance for the price. No more needed for such an efficient set up. Supplies 116 amps constant 232 amps burst

HQ 5x4.3x3 props PC - these props have the best feel of anything I have tried, are super efficient and really durable. Most epic prop on the market at the moment

There it is. I have to say that this quad is an absolute beast and is a ball ripping machine in the correct hands. Above is my opinions and I accept that people will disagree but thats that. Below is a few flight videos.

This one is running the old 3.1.7 so there is some oscillations. I also crashed it quite good. Please play at 1080p using the gear icon at the bottom right...

Here is another 3.1.7 flight vid - I haven't got any decent 3.2 footage yet but this one is good...

So there you have it. A cheap frame that flies good. Super efficient components and a good pilot :-) just joking! but in all seriousness it is a brilliant setup and good for all pilots of all skill levels.

The setup also has capacity to grow with you. It can start on 3 cell, move to four and your quad evolves with you and your skill level
