Really excellent podcast, I've listened to it 4 times already.
DX6i and AS3X on the SUKHOI 29mm & Super Cub S.
Regarding Tx setup for the Sukhoi.
The Super Cub instructions MUST be wrong. It IS the Flaps switch that controls Panic recovery. However, the set up DID NOT give me 3 modes on the Super Cub. The solution that has worked for me is: the settings in the instruction booklet do not cause Channel 5 to reach zero and thus EXPERIENCED MODE is NOT available. The fix that worked for me, adjusting it until it looked right in MONITOR was: SubTrim: Gear up 25, and, Mix 'Up' +125%. All 3 modes and Panic now work perfectly and the model is BRILLIANT. Flew it today in winds gusting to 16mph with no problems at all and virtually vertical landings, just BRILLIANT.

The Sukhoi 29mm instructions are:
1. Go to the SETUP LIST MENU
2. Set MODELTYPE: ACRO
3. Set REVERSE: Gear Channel

4. Go to ADJUST LIST MENU

5. Set TRAVEL ADJ: Gear/Fmode (0) ↑100%; Gear/Fmode
↓40%
6. Set FLAPS: Norm ↑100; LAND ↓100

7. Set MIX 1: ACT; Gear >Gear ACT, RATE D 0%; U + 100%, SW MIX, TRIM INH
Resulting in: The Gear and Mix switches operate the 3 SAFE modes Gear 0; Mix 0 = StagilityTM Mode
Gear 1; Mix 0 = AS3X 3D Mode
Gear 1; Mix 1 = AS3X Precision Mode
The FLAP switch operates Panic Recovery:
Position 0=Off, Position 1=On. (not a momentary switch)
Now compare that with the Super Cub instructions:
Super Cub S
1. Go to the SETUP LIST MENU
2. Set MODELTYPE: ACRO
3. Set REVERSE: Gear Channel
4. Go to ADJUST LIST MENU
5. Set TRAVEL ADJ: Gear/Fmode (0) ↑100%; Gear/Fmode (1) ↓40%
6. Set FLAPS: Norm 100; LAND 100
7. Set MIX 1: ACT; Gear > Gear ACT, RATE D 0%; U + 100%, SW MIX, TRIM INH
Resulting in:
The Gear and Mix switches operate the 3 SAFE modes Gear 0; Mix 0 = Beginner Mode
; Gear 1, Mix 0 = Intermediate Mode
; Gear 1, Mix 1 = Advanced Mode
The Trainer switch operates Panic Recovery.

Good stuff. Here is the link to my SU29 experience.
You can see what I had to do to get the 9X and orange module to work.

I find it weird how little understanding there seems to be regarding WHAT the three position switching actually does eg it DOESN'T seem to be 0% 50% 100%.
I think it's great that you can be so proud of your box. I destroy my boxes as quickly as possible because I feel that they are more likely to upset the wife, they are SO big.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the good info. I am definitely adding the pico qx to the Christmas list for my wife to get me.

I bought my brother-in-law the proto x when he was in town this past week and he loves it. After researching, we found out that the Hubsan x4 radio works for the proto x, enabling the flip functionality. Check it out if you haven't already.

Thanks again,

Brad.

At the moment it's out of stock, but who knows, they might be getting more in.
