I'm not sure how many people fly with the stock firmware on the 9x. I'm still yet to re-flash it, as I've been able to figure out most basic programming without too much fuss. However, when I added flaps to my Spitfire, I couldn't figure out how to 1. make them move in the same direction, and 2. put them on the 3 stage switch.
I found some inspiration on the net, but when I used a Y cable the servos moved in opposite directions. So a re-think was needed.
First things first, you need a spare channel. I used channel 5 for landing gear, leaving 6, 7 and 8 free.
Then, turn on your tx and open the AUX-CH setting. Set channel 6 (the empty one) to THRO HOLD. This tells the tx that the 3 way switch is active for throttle hold. Next, set channel 7 to PIT TRIM, and leave channel 8 NULL. With 7 as pitch trim, this servo should go down to full flap, while channel 8 is neutral.
Next, go to PROG.MIX. You first flaps mix should be as follows:
The AUX used for this mix is the first one (next to FLP), not the second. This neutralises the flap with the switch at normal (off).
Select the next mix, and program as follows:
This is the first AUX again. When you put the 3 way switch into the middle, you should get your takeoff flap (just less than half way). In the bottom position, you should get full flap.
Now to program the other side (next mix):
This is using the second AUX, and should program your takeoff flap to the middle position.
Lastly, use another mix as follows for full flap:
Now you should have 3 position flaps, with N (top) with no flaps, 1 (middle) takeoff flaps and 2 (bottom) full flaps.
Happy flapping!
John

This mix pairs channels 6 and 7 and channels 6 and 8. You should be able to substitute channel 1 with either 7 or 8.
One thing that'll need fine tuning is having one mix moving the ailerons in different directions, while another couple of mixes move them in the same direction...

If there're no other mixes on, make sure that your second two mixes (last two photos, mixes 3 and 4 in my case) have the *second* AUX selected as slave. You should have to press the right arrow twice before it goes back to FLPS.
Let me know if you're still having trouble.

in the first part of article you said "I used channel 5 for landing gear, leaving 6, 7 and 8 free."
but in the first picture, there is some connection in 7th and 8th channels?
which cables are plugged to CH 7 and 8 ?

I got a little confused as to why it wasn't working, but then I re-read the article and found that I'd used the wrong 'Aux' in the mix settings :D
Cheers!

With the program and receiver set exactly as per the article, what happens when you use the three position switch?
