Original engine was the Hispano-Suiza 8, water cooled at 150 hp (112 kW). The S.E.5a you are reviewing had an upgraded 200hp (149 kv) 8b version of the engine.
Eventually the Hispano Suiza HS-8 "Wolseley Viper" replaced the 8b (also 200 hp) which was more reliable.

For some reason I can't rate it, but if I could I would give it a 5! Great review! I'm glad you guys are noticing the con's of the plane, it makes the show so much better.

Have been flying this one since Christmas and it remains one of my firm favourites. Love the elastic guy wire idea. I went with the stock wire setup and it definitely added 2 or 3 hours to the build.
This plane is one of the best for learning touch and go's. The undercarraige is VERY resilient and the wheel diameter makes it suitable for most fields.
