E-Flite UMX A-10 Warthog | REVIEW

Pros

  • Fantastic driver system—it doesn’t inhibit flight
  • Quiet
  • Highly maneuverable
  • Solid intermediate plane
  • Removable landing gear
  • Most EDFs don’t have a lot of power, but this one does
  • Never had so much fun with a micro-EDF
  • The twin, brushless motors, the power, the efficiency gave us seven minute flights (800mah)
  • The ability to take it up to 800mah batteries

Cons

  • Not for beginner pilots
  • Prone to damage on landings—motors in back put extra pressure on the front of the plane

Tips for success

  • Launch at 45 degree angle with full throttle
  • Fly the wing! AS3X gyros will keep the plane stable, but you will lose manuverablility and not have a good flight experience
  • This plane is happy at higher speeds
  • Needs nose weight with a smaller battery—you can make up for that with a camera
  • Crashed it? Don’t get discouraged! It's nothing a little hot glue can’t fix (#problemsolving)
  • Check your CRAP”- C- control surfaces, R- rips and tears, A- angles, P- power and control systems
  • Mini FPV camera sold in store—great addition on this model

There are probably others out there who have been flying this longer than three days, so please leave your tips and tricks in the comments below.

I have 2 UMX models - great fun but also brittle foam - nothing like Z-foam or EPO of bigger models. Small bounces break stuff.
Medium thick foam-safe CA glue goes on one surface, a mist of Kicker spray on the other - hold together for a few seconds. Virtually instant, invisible repair - then BACK IN THE AIR.
Hot Glue seems too hard and slow, and for most of us means going home... Which would you choose?
