HH Vortex 150 EC or XT

I am writing this article as there does not seem to be much talk on the forums. Recently I purchased a Vortex 150 from Horizon Hobby. I must say first off that this is one of the most awesome quads I have flown to date. I'd like to give a huge thumbs up to ImmersionRC for putting such a great quad together, and I look forward to future products from them. This article covers really my only issue overall with this quad and its not even really the quads fault. As most know there are a wide variety of battery connector options available. The most common I have seen are XTs, ECs, and Deans. I know there is a lot of debate out there about which connectors are superior and coming from someone who is still young to the hobby it made me wonder what the guys at FliteTest think on the subject. I myself have been using EC3s for my park flyer planes as most of the products I have purchased are from Horizon Hobby. The connector has never given any issue to date and are very easy to find. This quad is the first aircraft I have encountered that had an XT30 connector. While the connector looks to be very well made it also is very small and my lead wires on my particular quad were very short, and as I found out very hard to get. I checked with all three of my local hobby shops and they apparantly do not keep them stocked. A few people I spoke with including an ImmersionRC tech stated that he had converted his 150 to an XT60. I have converted my 150 to use an EC3 along with changing the leads from a 18 size wire to a 16. Overall I would just like to know some thoughts on this and was it a good move.

This is my first article so please excuse the messy format. I hope to create better ones for future reviews or discussions.

Thanks for reading. :-)

Before and after shots of the conversion.
