Lazy Gnat - it flies!

Lazy Gnat

I built this a while ago, but never showed any flight video, so here it is;

The plane is underpowered, but flew. I was a bit dissapointed at the time and moved on to other projects. I recently got interested in lightweight flyers again so reused the components to create this 'stubby' plane;

It uses the same wing and tail feathers as the Lazy Gnat, but has a foam fuselage. Here's some more images of the bare fuselage/model;

Note that I replaced the bottom two BBQ 'wing' braces with a single top brace.

This was slightly lighter than the gnat, and again it flew 'just' OK, but the firewall was very vulnerable and kept getting knocked off. I bit the bullet and dismantled it to reuse the electronics to create the Nitball which uses elevons. The motor firewall is a gift card.

I still had another little motor and ESC so I built this 3 channel Staggerwing out of pizza foam by shamelessly reducing and modifying PenguinRC's flatshot Staggerwing plans!

Staggerwing flight video in the mini staggerwing article....

UPDATE 28/03/2015 - I've been collecting and updating all my articles, planes and plans on my own website on this page; RCplanes It's still a work in progress, but there's a few extras and beta-stage projects that don't appear here on the Flite Test website yet.
